Vibration damping in ships and offshore platforms
Vibrations on ships and offshore platforms can damage systems, structures and sensitive equipment. In addition, noise caused by vibrations can have a negative impact on the comfort, health and productivity of people on board.
What does vibration damping do?
Vibration damping ensures that equipment and engines on board ships cannot transfer vibrations to the hull, or that vibrations in the hull are not transferred to the interior. When this is properly calculated and implemented, a good vibration damping solution can ensure a much lower noise level.
Solutions in vibration damping
For decades, ISOPARTNER has been providing solutions for vibrations based on the elastic polyurethane Sylomer in ship and yacht building. The excellent vibration-isolating and vibration-damping properties reduce wear and noise nuisance on board.
Sylomer (FR Marine), our fireproof vibration damping products
ISOPARTNER has a new range of vibration-damping polyurethane products in its range: Sylomer FR Marine. These lightweight products are resistant to water, salt water, oil and fats and have the optimal ratio between dynamic and static stiffness. Sylomer products are easy to install and floors remain low thanks to their low thickness. The products do not contain softeners, silicones or other harmful substances.
This range has excellent vibration damping and insulating properties with a long service life and constant product properties over decades. Sylomer FR Marine has an IMO certificate and therefore has excellent fire-retardant properties (IMO MSC 307 (88), FTP Code 2 and 5, MED module B and D).
If fewer requirements are placed on vibration damping and flammability, our Absobel Agglo product can also be used.
